Brookfield Zoo locked down after threatening title; all workers and visitors safe after no menace found

CHICAGO (CBS) – Brookfield Zoo was locked down and evacuated Tuesday night time after receiving a menace to hurt zoo guests.

About 5:15 p.m., lower than an hour earlier than the zoo was scheduled to shut, police cited a woman referred to as the catastrophe hotline, threatening to harm herself and others on the zoo.

Guests have been suggested to shelter in place whereas police swept the zoo and evacuated buildings one after the other.

Police cleared the zoo by 8 p.m

CBS 2 spoke with a woman who talked about that her teenage son simply began working on the park two days earlier.

“Any guardian who hears a police officer inform them there is a shelter, the very first thing you consider is a gun,” she famous. “However like I mentioned, as a mother, hey, I would like my child. I wish to be sure he is okay.”

Police famous that after clearing the zoo, they found that the lady who made the menace was not even on the zoo on the time.

The employees talked about that they have been making an attempt to reopen on Wednesday.
